The day before the marine-snow juicer post, the internet was serving two unrelated delights: sugar-related molecules reported in interstellar space (life’s chemical inventory looking less lonely), and a winged robot designed to fly and swim in a puffin-ish way.
I bundled them because breaks do not have to be monographs. Sometimes the field notes are a double feature: chemistry of the void + engineering of the coast.

Sugar in space is not candy. It is a reminder that complexity’s ingredients predate Earth. The robot is a reminder that evolution’s solutions are free R&D if you are willing to copy badly at first.
Then the next day we got pressure-juiced marine snow. July was a good month to be curious and a bad month to skip breaks.
